Summer GK strength & conditioning

Hey guys. I hope you are all enjoying some time off hockey or maybe playing indoor or summer hockey. While the girls were killing it in Argentina I was in Perth enjoying a long awaited rest from hockey whilst working hard with my preseason training.

It has been an unbelievable year for the Hockeyroos. Silver at the World Cup, Gold at the Comm Games in a very tense game then Silver at the Champions Trophy. The team is improving every day and I am so lucky to be a part of it all. The focus for the Hockeyroos has now shifted to RIO 2016 so we are straight into a very tough strength and conditioning phase. I have been really enjoying my gym program and now have speed and conditioning work as part of my week. Massage and yoga are also in there plus plenty of time to enjoy myself and make the most of the time away from our normal Perth training environment. I have put together a bit of a video with some of the drills and exercises that myself and some of the girls have been doing. I hope it can give you a few ideas or maybe just encourage you to get stuck into your training a little earlier to get a head start for the new year.

If you wanted to try training with the Agility band, which you will see featured in the video, they can be purchased here

Check out my video on our Summer Preseason training here. You can also relive ‘that moment’ when Jodie scored the winner at the Commonwealth Games.

I have also been lucky enough to be nominated for International Goal Keeper of the Year by the FIH. If you would like to vote for me or any of the other Aussies nominated please click here Or search for Federation International Hockey on facebook and follow the links to Player of the year. Thanks 🙂

About me

Making her debut in 2006 at the Champions Trophy tournament in the Netherlands Lynch has now become a regular feature in the Hockeyroos side. Lynch was the number one goalkeeper at both the 2010 World Cup and Commonwealth Games, performing extremely well at both tournaments. With the London Olympics under a year away Lynch will be looking to cement her spot in order to chase that dream of Olympic Gold.

Rachael,
You are one of the most inspiring people in sports today. Both on and off the turf your passion for hockey is infectious and thank you so much for sharing this with the developing players. With exceptional dedication and devotion to health and sport you are a fabulous role model for Hockey Australia and more than deserving of Player of the Year. All the best to you and your family for the festive season. Wishing you a safe and happy new year for the adventure to begin again in 2015. Looking forward to seeing you soon. xx Deb & Evie.
