On Thursday September 15th I was lucky enough to take part in a nation wide event called R U OK? Day in which I am an ambassador for. This wonderful initiative caused a media stir Australia wide with exposure in print, online and social media. The story behind the event was also covered on Australian Story, 7pm project and many news programs. I was very pleased to see many of the Hockeyroos, among others, mentioning RUOK?Day on twitter and putting out the call for people to ask a friend, work mate or team mate R U OK?
Attending the event at Victoria Park Gloria Jeans was Cameron Sheppard, Ros Worthington, Trevor Vaughan, Helen Morton, David Sierakowski and many local business owners and residents. I had the opportunity to say a few works about the event and why I chose to become an ambassador. There were free coffees all morning thanks to the wonderful support from Gloria Jeans. There is a great resource in their website so if you can, I encourage you to check it out

There is another event coming up which I will hopefully be involved in called ‘Nathan Wright Fortescue Walk for Hope’. This is a man who lost his son to suicide who has decided to walk from Carnarvon to Perth. Yes you read it right and yes it is a very long way. 890 kms in fact. In order to create awareness and raise vital funds for suicide prevention David Wright will head off from Canarvon on Sep 21 and hopefully walk into Perth on the 22nd of October. You can find out more by checking out their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/walkforhope2011?sk=info

Communities.
